Although there have been plenty of goals between these teams in their last two Selhurst Park meetings, both of which ended in disappointment for Liverpool, we think it will be different this time.
The Reds have been basing their strong recent form on defensive solidity and it will be surprising if Palace can get close to scoring three goals against them for the third consecutive occasion on this ground.
There have been some one-sided victories for Real in this head-to-head over the last few years – 5-1, 6-1 and even an 8-2 in the reverse fixture earlier this season.
The common theme, however, is that Deportivo usually score a goal and despite a poor record on their travels this term, they could do so again at the Bernabeu.
In contrast to the La Liga match above, this one could be a low-scoring affair because if you add together Granada’s home goals and Athletic Bilbao’s away goals this season, the total comes to only 13 in 21 matches.
A solitary goal for either team is likely to settle this game or it could even be a 0-0 draw as Granada try to climb off the bottom of the table.
Incredibly, four of the last five meetings of these clubs have finished 0-0 and there is little to suggest it should be much different this time.
Two of Bastia’s last four matches have also been goalless, as was Nantes’ latest Ligue 1 game to show that both teams are finding it difficult to hit the back of the net.
