A Real battle of two Champions League chasing sides take place at the St Marys on Sunday when Southampton host in-form Liverpool. The winners will take a huge step towards a top 4 finish and dent a huge hole in the aspiration of their rivals.
The Saints are currently in pole position to claim the final Champions League spot and sit 4 points ahead of Brendan Rodgers men. Ronald Koeman has made his Southampton side one of the most entertaining teams to watch in the Premier League yet they have the best defensive record in the League with just 17 league goals conceded all year some 12 fewer than Sundays opponents. Scoring goals has not been a problem either with 38 goals scored, again this is more than there Merseyside Opponents. Many people are still expecting Southampton to slip up but when Bwin offers 6/1 on them it has to be snapped up.
Liverpool are finally putting a run together that could salvage what looked like being a disappointing season for Brendan Rodgers. A Fine run in the league and a decent draw in the FA Cup has given the Anfield fans hope that 2015 will be a good year. Form away from home must be a worry for Liverpool however as they have been beaten 5 times so far and with The Saints having such a decent record at St Marys this looks a tough ask to claim a vital 3 points in their pursuit of Southampton in 4th spot.
